Wielki Roudny

The Velký Roudný national natural monument is the highest and best-preserved stratovolcano in Nízké Jeseník. In addition to the pyroclastics and lavas forming the hill, four separate lava flows of nepheline basalite, limburgite and alkali basalt dated between 3.4 and 1.03 Ma were distinguished. The presence of phreatomagmatic phenomena – rootless craters – was newly discovered. Velký Roudný is open to the public, the Po Volkanites educational trail passes through it with stops dedicated to the local volcanic activity. At the top of Velké Roudné there is a lookout tower offering a view of the Silesian Hart and a brick chapel, which is the end of the Way of the Cross leading up the slope of Velké Roudné. The chapel is a cultural monument. The location is very suitable for field trips focusing on geology and volcanology.

Wzgórze Węglowe

Uhlířský vrch represents the remains of one of the youngest stratovolcanoes in the Czech Republic (1.5 Ma). The southern slope of the volcano is broken by wall fractures, in which the structure of the volcanic cone can be studied. Pyroclastics are represented here by unsorted slags with a supporting grain structure without an ash fraction, which contain numerous teardrop- to spindle-shaped bombs. Uhlířský vrch is located within walking distance of Bruntál, 2.6 km from the city center. Uhlířský vrch was an important pilgrimage site in the past. The Church of Our Lady of Help, which is the end of the Way of the Cross, is built here. There are several benches and information boards. A green hiking trail passes through the location, as well as an educational trail after volcanoes. Uhlířský vrch is a natural monument subject to protection: The unique profile of the youngest volcano. Protection is determined by the Uhlířský vrch Natural Monument Care Plan.

Tuffites Razowa

Single-story wall quarries uncovering horizontally deposited rocks long considered to be tuffs to tuffites. Their modern research has shown that these are ballistic accumulations in close proximity to a phreatomagmatic eruption with a crater hidden in a bend of the Moravice River, today flooded with water from the Slezská Harta dam reservoir. The Razov tuffites are a natural monument. Protection is established by the Plan for the Care of the Razovské Tuffity Natural Monument File no. MSK 47270/2016.

The Razovská tuffite natural monument is located near the Slezská Harta dam, which is very popular among tourists. The location is suitable for field trips focusing on geology and volcanology.

The abandoned quarry reveals the columnar cleavage of nepheline basalite of the lava flow from the Venus volcano (age 2.1-0.8 Ma). Columns with a diameter of several dm have a hexagonal, rarely pentagonal cross-section, and contain phenocrysts of olivine and pyroxene.

The lava flow near Mezyna is a natural monument subject to protection: An exposed lava flow of the Venus volcano with well-developed columnar and spherical cleavage of plagioclastic basalt with abundant olivine growths. Protection is established by the Plan for the Care of the Natural Monument Lava Flow near Mezyna File no. MSK 47270/2016.

The natural monument Lava flow near Mezyna is open to the public without restrictions. The educational trail Po vulkanitech passes through the site. The location is suitable for field trips focusing on volcanoes.

Wulkan Wenus

The Venus volcano (643 m) is an extinct Quaternary volcano above the village of Mezina, south of Bruntál. There is a flat crater at the top and side craters with lava caves. Only the red-brown color of the soil reminds us of volcanic activity here. Two lava flows are heading in a northeasterly direction. Its top was destroyed by ash mining in the past. Geologically, the volcano is made up of igneous rocks, of which basalt or basalt has the largest presence, which are covered with volcanic outcrops of the nature of tuffs and tuffites with occurrences of so-called "volcanic bombs".
