Halaska

The Halaška lookout tower was built on the top of Kopřivná hill (641.2 m above sea level) near Budišov nad Budišovkou only recently, in 2021. Its name was given in honour of the Budišov native, world-famous physicist and astronomer František Ignác Kassián Halaška. The lookout tower is 29.5 m high, with 144 steps made of steel grates leading to the 24.2 m high viewing gallery. The tower offers views of the nearby volcanoes of the Bruntálská vrchovina, the highest mountain of the Low Jeseník Slunečná, the relief of the Moravice valley, the panorama of the Hrubý Jeseník, the panorama of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy, etc.

The lookout consists of four load-bearing metal columns, which imaginatively pass through the glass roof and are a mere section of infinite surfaces. They represent the cardinal points from a given centre on the Earth, from the top of Kopřivná hill, they are the connection between the Earth and the infinite universe. The construction is conceived unconventionally as a quartet of segmented columns forming a rectangular cross in plan. A sundial, a star map and geo-benches are located near the tower, which are part of an architectural concept about the Earth and the universe.

Lookout tower Šibenice

The Šibenice concrete observation tower from 2018-2019 was built on the site of the unfinished military fortification of Czechoslovakia in the Opava region from 1938. It is almost 13 m high.

Before the Second World War, a military fortress began to be built on Šibenica as part of the line of fortifications. According to the original plan, this was to include a total of eight combat structures (infantry blockhouses, artillery blockhouses, a revolving and retractable tower, an entrance building and a revolving mortar tower). All buildings were to be connected by a total of 3.2 km of underground passages at a depth of 5.5 m. Work on the fortress began in April 1938. However, a few months later, during the Munich crisis, all construction work was stopped.

Come and enjoy the view of the surroundings, learn information about the construction of Šibenice fortress and fortifications. You can visit an engineering shelter from the 1970s. Children can jump around the observation deck on the climbing frames that mimic a military training ground. By car, you can drive within sight of the observation tower (approx. 150 m) and park on the paved area. We recommend coming to the lookout point from the settlement of Březová (it's a worse way from Jamnice).

Veselská lookout tower

The lookout is located near the village of Veselí, 5 km from the town of Odra. The lookout tower is a futuristic structure made of black stained wood combined with steel reinforcements. The base of the tower with the inner gallery is a reinforced concrete structure covered with slate. Another slate, roofing slate, is located on the roof of the tower. The shape of the tower symbolizes a chess tower. The tower is also the emblem of the town of Odra. Wooden watchtowers used to stand in the Oder Hills, the guards of which used to guard the merchant trade routes leading from the Baltic to the Mediterranean called the Amber Route. The surroundings of the tower are completed with benches in the form of additional chess pieces. On them, one can take a breather, contemplate life's next move, or decide to climb to the observation platform and gaze at the Moravian Gate, Beskydy Mountains and Hostýn Hills.

Těchanovice viewpoint

The 12-metre high three-storey wooden lookout tower has been towering over the village of Staré Těchanovice east of the Kružberk reservoir since 2018. The view from the roofed platform at a height of 9 metres is limited by the ridge of a higher hill to the south, yet the lookout tower offers a nice view of the main ridge of the Jeseníky Mountains with Praděd, the Kružberk reservoir and the Velký Roudný volcano. There are 5 wooden deck chairs with a view of the Kružberk reservoir. The lookout tower is a popular place for watching sunsets.
