Slate landscape - about the project. In the project, the landscape of Nízké Jeseník is called the Slate Landscape. This name is not random.
In geological maps, Nízký Jeseník and Oderské vrchy appear as a gray area. In fact, it is a colorful, picturesque and diverse landscape. It consists of round green pastures, deep valleys with old rivers and streams, outcrops of forests and lonely groups of trees hiding old quarries and mines.
The greenery alternates with grayish silvery piles of shale and rock outcrops. In the valleys and on the hills, the surface of the lakes of flooded quarries glisten, often with clear water, sometimes overgrown with algae, harboring countless species of aquatic animals. The beauty and uniqueness observable in every view is often the work of nature combined with the work of man. One of the greatest peculiarities of Nízký Jeseník is the mystery of the land. Deep-sea slate mines - the work of man, which was created over several centuries.
